I have just started my journey at uncommon.org, an organization that equips youth and young adults with valuable tech skills. At Uncommon, we were introduced to Scratch, a simplified platform for developing games. We were taught how to develop 2D games, which we then teach to students from different schools. This collaboration has been incredibly beneficial to me, strengthening my programming skills, boosting my confidence, and enhancing my ability to explain technical concepts clearly. The experience is admirable because it inspires us to adopt a positive mindset, transforming complex tech challenges into solved ones. By working together, we cultivate a vibrant spirit of curiosity and creativity, turning every bug into an opportunity to learn and improve our skills. 🚀 Building My Coding Foundation with WoofJS at Uncommon.org My journey into tech continues to be exciting and transformative. Through Uncommon.org, I’ve been learning how to program using WoofJS, and it has been an incredible hands-on experience. WoofJS has helped me understand the core principles of software development in a fun and interactive way from working with coordinates and animations to applying logic, events, and problem-solving techniques to create real projects. First time standing at the front of a room full of young eyes. So I kept it simple. -> Change the backdrop. -> Change the sprite. -> Resize the cat. Basic Scratch stuff. But when they got it? Some fast. Some slow. Every single one — got there. I came to give something that day. @ I left with something I didn't even know I needed. What could compare to that. This is only the beginning. That belief is what led me to take the next step in my growth by joining a bootcamp at Uncommon.org where I’m beginning to intentionally build my skills and understanding of technology.
