This position is based in Harare, though the Teacher Training Program Coordinator may be asked to travel around the country from time to time.

Employment Type:

This is a full-time, in-person position. At times, the Teacher Training Program Coordinator may be expected to work after-hours and on weekends to accommodate for events and workshops. After hours time will be deducted from the normal work week.

Position Overview:

The Teacher Training Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the Teacher Training Program Manager with the launch of our Teacher Training Pilot Program, where our goal is to train, empower and support 100+ Government school teachers to teach computer coding in their classrooms to 10,000+ students.

The Teacher Training Program Coordinator will report directly to the Program Manager and is expected to be self-motivated, detail oriented coordinator who is eager to drive Uncommon’s next phase of growth and bring a free coding education into every classroom in Zimbabwe.

Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Working with the Program Manager on designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the Teacher Training Pilot Program.
Working with the Program Manager and Product Team on the design and implementation of Uncommon’s software tools to support teachers.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with teachers and school officials.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with Government officials.
Coordinating the administrative and logistical needs of the Program Manager to test and expand the Teacher Training Program nationwide.
Working with stakeholders to analyze the impact of the Teacher Training Program and report on its effectiveness.

Requirements:

Requirements include but are not limited to:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field of study.
5+ years of professional experience.
Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communication skills (with an emphasis on writing).
Great organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to important details.
Ability to strategize, innovate and lead with little supervision.
An incredible passion for our mission.

In 2023, Uncommon provided free computer coding lessons to over 5,000 primary and secondary students in Harare and Bulawayo, and trained more than 100 unemployed young adults for the technology workforce. In 2024, Uncommon is on pace to double its impact while preparing for nationwide expansion.
