Summary

The Placement Coordinator is responsible for supporting Uncommon graduates as they transition from training into meaningful employment. The role focuses on coordinating graduate placements, maintaining accurate placement data, building strong relationships with employers and alumni, and providing structured post-placement support to improve graduate retention and employment outcomes.

Working closely with the Employment Partnerships Manager and internal programme teams, the Placement Coordinator plays a key role in helping graduates launch successful careers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Graduate Pipeline Management
  • Maintain an accurate placement pipeline tracking graduate applications, interviews, and employment status.
  • Monitor graduate progress and escalate cases requiring additional support.
  • Ensure placement data remains accurate and up to date.
2. Employer Coordination & Graduate Placement
  • Match graduates with employment opportunities alongside the Employment Partnerships Manager.
  • Coordinate interviews and support graduates throughout the recruitment process.
  • Record employment outcomes including employer details, role, and start dates.
3. Graduate Retention & Career Support
  • Deliver the structured First 90 Days post-placement support programme.
  • Conduct regular graduate check-ins during employment.
  • Support graduates facing workplace challenges and conduct exit interviews where necessary.
4. Placement Reporting & Data Management
  • Maintain accurate placement records across all Uncommon hubs.
  • Produce regular reports on graduate employment outcomes.
  • Track placement KPIs and contribute to organisational reporting requirements.
5. Alumni & Graduate Engagement
  • Coordinate alumni engagement events and networking opportunities.
  • Deliver workplace readiness workshops before placement.
  • Build long-term relationships with graduates to support career progression.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, Social Sciences, Career Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in recruitment, career services, programme coordination, graduate placement, or employment support.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Experience maintaining databases and preparing reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Willingness to travel across Zimbabwe.
  • Experience working within youth employment, education, workforce development, or NGO programmes (desirable).
  • Knowledge of Zimbabwe's labour market (desirable).
  • Experience coordinating employer engagement or career events (desirable).
  • Familiarity with CRM or applicant tracking systems (desirable).

Performance Metrics (KPIs)

  • Placement pipeline maintained accurately with up-to-date graduate application, interview, and employment status records.
  • Graduate employment outcomes recorded, including employer details, role, and start dates.
  • First 90 Days post-placement support programme delivered consistently to all placed graduates.
  • Regular graduate check-ins conducted during employment across all hubs.
  • Accurate placement records maintained and regular reports produced on graduate employment outcomes.
  • Alumni engagement events and networking opportunities coordinated on schedule.

90-Day Success Plan

By the end of 90 days, the Placement Coordinator will have:

  • Established and populated the graduate placement pipeline with current graduate application and employment status data.
  • Coordinated at least one round of employer matching and interview support for a graduating Bootcamp cohort.
  • Launched the First 90 Days post-placement support programme for recently placed graduates.
  • Built working relationships with the Employment Partnerships Manager, Programme Managers, and key employer contacts.
  • Produced the first placement report summarising graduate employment outcomes across all hubs.
